The left eye is way too small. The shape of chin is wrong because the shadow is wrong... The shadow of the nose isn't connecting to the shadow below the eye brow. I don't think this is piece working out at all.

Brave of you to add those light skin tones, Liron, but it definitely worked. I'd probably have left lots of white there, having ruined so many watercolours by not stopping early enough. On the other hand, I'm starting to wonder whether it's much easier to overwork and ruin landscapes and whether portraits are more forgiving.

Pure gold, thank you!! I saw painting bluish shadows and sculpting with shadows first by korean portrait masters. You cleared the question of enhancement of a saturation in those shadowed areas, and overall commented very concisely on what I saw, but couldn't completely digest, for the lack of a better word. Thank you!!!!!❤❤❤

@@LironYan Yes, those videos are gorgeous, but you have your different style for sure! Recently I borrowed a book from a library on watercolor portraits by Japanese masters. It's also very interesting and unique, but more "classic" approach "from light to dark". I will rewatch your video too. Thank you for sharing!

My plans to start painting again were put on hold due to family needs, but grandbaby finally made it ok, mum recovering slowly, son still dazed&confused. Moving slows things down fersure. But i’m glad to see you survive, you thrive. I too have chickened out on starting over, since my last move. You inspire me to try again, thank you.

Currently I am using Daniel Smith mostly, this is mostly a matter of convenience. At one time Schminke was my favorite but locally art supplies are only available from the big box craft stores a none of them stock it. Winsor -Newton is mostly the student grade, same with some other brands. I have a few Schminke half pans that I do still use but I can't always be sure what they are when that sticker on the bottom fades or peels away.

I've been to four of Eudes classes, and can confirm he never uses opaque white - he either saves highlights as he goes along, or scratches highlights with his fingernail and/or a palette knife. 🙂

"Don't do what I do. Don't listen to anything I say." I was following closely, so I knew what you meant. But it was funny! This video helps me realize that I need to watch the "Paint the Shadows First" video next. I have begun to try being more specific with my shadows and to actually leave some parts unpainted (or leave them till last) and I find it extremely hard. Such a challenge to begin to see like an artist!
